The Sportsman Gun Centre can only deliver goods to you in an approximate period. We will always endeavour to dispatch your items within 48 hours however product availability can vary. All goods will be sent to the address given by you which can be seen in your order confirmation email. We aim to get your goods to you within 2-3 working days but some products have specific delivery requirement which may extend delivery timescales. Please see individual product pages for more information.

If for some reason parcels are required to be redirected then an additional charge might be levied (where applicable). Also if goods are refused or not called for a charge might also be incurred. This list is not a full and exhaustive list and other reasons may apply. For further information when resolving delivery issues please call 01392 354854

Please note that your goods may be sent to you in instalments as availability of products can vary. For example certain products have specific delivery requirements which are explained below.

In-Store Items

These are items that we stock in one of our 3 SGC Shooting Superstores and orders for these items will take 2-3 days to arrive. If you would like to purchase the item in person then please call ahead to make sure the store you're travelling to has it in stock (Our main distribution warehouse is located at the Exeter branch).

Direct Shipment Items

These products are dispatched direct from the manufacturer on behalf of Sportsman Gun Centre. In most cases they will arrive separately to any other items you have ordered. Please see the individual product pages for specific delivery estimates as each manufacturer will use a different courier. If you need to return or exchange your product please return the items to Sportsman Gun Centre's Exeter branch. For more information please call 01392 354 854.

Collection Only Items

These items normally require Identification (Passport) or a Firearms / Shotgun Certificate before they are handed over. Shotguns, Rifles, Airguns and Moderators are usually good examples. When purchasing a 'collection only' item you are in effect paying a deposit for your goods. In all instances you can choose to collect your item from one of our stores (Exeter, Dorset or Newport) or from a 3rd party gun dealer. The latter may be at an additional cost to yourself.

PLEASE CALL THE RELEVANT STORE OR THE 3RD PARTY GUN DEALER TO MAKE SURE YOUR ITEM HAS ARRIVED BEFORE YOU TRAVEL TO COLLECT YOUR ORDER.

Special Order Items

These are products which aren't always kept in stock or are tailor made. Special Order Items can have extended delivery timescales so for more information please see the individual product pages for specific delivery estimates.

Pre-Order/Back Order Items

These are usually items that are going to be out of stock for a number of weeks or are in short supply. By purchasing a Pre-Order or Back Ordering an Item you are in effect paying a deposit for your goods. As soon as the item is back in stock yours will be dispatched within 24 hours where possible. Please see individual product pages for the current delivery estimates and back in stock dates. On rare occasions these dates can be changed by the manufacturers, so we recommend staying in contact with our Exeter branch once a month depending on the product lead time. Tel: 01392 354854

International Delivery

In addition to the above information If your delivery address is outside of the UK you may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Any such additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you. You should note that customs policies vary widely from country to country. The Sportsman Gun Centre advises each customer to contact their local customs office for further information if they are in any way unsure of local duties or liabilities. Cross border shipments are subject to opening and inspection by customs authorities which means some packages maybe opened and re-sealed.

Refunds & Returns

The Goods in question must be returned to us unopened within 14 days of your cancellation notice and must be received by us in the condition they were in when delivered to you, unopened and sealed in their original packaging in a condition suitable for re-sale. Unless the Goods are faulty We shall be entitled to recover any direct costs of having to recover the Goods from you and may set such costs off against the amount to be re-credited to you.

All returned goods should carry a copy of the original invoice and a completed returns slip. We recommend you keep a copy of these for your own records. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Airguns Sub 12 FT/LB

What we call an airgun in everyday language is known in law as a ‘low powered air weapon’. That basically means an air rifle capable of less than 12ft lbs in energy, or an air pistol of less than 6ft lbs in energy. An airgun may be powered by a spring and piston, a reservoir of compressed air or compressed CO2.

You can buy, own and use an airgun without needing a certificate. Except Scotland where you are required to have a valid Air Weapon Certificate. Air Weapon Certificates can be obtained through an application to your local police force. More details can be found at www.scotland.police.uk.

If you have ever been sentenced to more than three months’ imprisonment, you are automatically banned from owning an airgun for five years; a sentence over three years means a lifetime ban.

There are age restrictions on who can buy an airgun, you must be over the age of 18 and be able to prove this at the point of purchase.

Below the age of 14, you can only use an airgun under the supervision of someone over 21 and only on private land. You cannot own or receive an airgun as a gift until you are 18.

Over the age of 14 you can use an airgun with permissions on private land and without supervision. Pellets and ammunition must never travel past the boundary of the private property on which you are shooting.

The law requires you to take ‘reasonable precautions’ to keep your airgun out of the hands of anyone under 18. If there are under-18s living in the house, or if children come to visit, you will need to make sure your airgun is locked away.

You can only shoot an airgun (or any other gun) on private land, and when you have permission (from the landowner, farmer etc) to do so. If you have an airgun in a public place you must have a ‘reasonable excuse’, such as travelling to or from a shoot, and it should be in a gun cover, unloaded and uncocked.

    Not a true HW75
The piston and compression chamber in the HW75 I bought here are from an HW40 - a pistol half the price - not the original HW75. It is a down-specced hybrid so going straight back.

A quality target pistol with a few minor gripes
If you want to accurately hit paper targets all day you could do worse than choose this pistol, however, I find having to cock back the hammer before every shot gets old fast! With my Alecto I can get away with flicking forward a safety with my trigger finger before taking my shot, I can also get 3 power levels out of my Alecto which means more versatility. I also prefer the erganomic grip of the Alecto. The downside of the Alecto though is build quality, some sort of rubberised plastic with metal internals will never beat all metal construction! If there was a pistol that had both a good erganomic grip, all metal construction and power options all in a one package I'd have bought that instead. Sadly, nothing I know of forefills these criteria for around 250 of our earth pounds.
